Exodus 23:20 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”John 16:13But when he(she), the Spirit of truth(the angel of truth), comes, he(she) will guide you into all the truth. He(She) will not speak on his(her) own; he(she) will speak only what he(she) hears, and he(she) will tell you what is yet to come.John 14:16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he (she) may abide with you for ever;1 Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.
Revelation 12:9 This great dragon–the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world–was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.
Jeremiah 50 6 “My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;Matthew 15:9″But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” 2 Thessalonians 2 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie Isaiah 42:6f I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
This section of Isaiah(taken from the Voice Translation) is written to a singular female as she is the mother of the Jews. But this woman isn’t just any woman—she is Jerusalem – The Daughter of Jerusalem, Israel, Judah and Zion. Cities are often described as female because they are like mothers supporting a brood of children (the population).
Isaiah 60 Arise, shine, for your light has broken through! The Eternal One’s brilliance has dawned upon you.2 See truly; look carefully—darkness blankets the earth; people all over are cloaked in darkness(deception). But God will rise and shine on you; the Eternal’s bright glory( Shekinah light) will shine on you, a light for all to see.3 Nations north and south, peoples east and west, will be drawn to your light, will find purpose and direction by your light. In the radiance of your rising, you will enlighten the leaders of nations.
Eternal One: I punished you because I was furious with you, reduced you to little on account of your persistent wrongdoing; But I will restore you, reclaim you, and rebuild you because I cannot help but love you.11 Now your gates will stay open to a constant stream of gifts; all day and night they will not be shut As the wealth of nations is brought to you with their kings leading the processions.
12 Any nations that abstain, any peoples who decline from serving you will simply disappear; they will be destroyed.14 And all the children of those who had bullied you, attacked and abused you, all those who hated you will come crawling on their knees and bowing at your feet. And they will address you as “city of God, place of the Eternal, the Holy One of Israel’s Zion, sweet heaven on earth.”17 I will bring you gold instead of bronze, silver instead of iron, bronze instead of wood, iron instead of stone.
Your government will be founded and grounded; I will make peace your governor, and righteousness your ruler. 18 You’ll never hear again, “Help! Call the guards!” Violence, destruction, and ruin will be things of the past in Jerusalem(the whole earth). You will name the city walls Salvation, and the city gates Praise.19 You(referring to the woman – the Daughter of Jerusalem, Israel,Judah and Zion) won’t need the sun to brighten the day or the moon and lamps to give you light. The Eternal One will be all the light you ever need.Your God will provide your glory(light), brilliance for all time.20 Your sun will never set; your moon will never be eclipsed in shadow,For you’ll bask in the Eternal’s light and silver splendor forever.Never again will you suffer the dark night of despair and gloom of mourning.21 All the people will be right with God, and they’ll stay in the land(the earth) they possess forever.
6 Eternal One: As My servant you will do even more than this, even more than restoring Jacob’s family to Me And making Israel right with Me again. I will make you a light for the nations, And You will illumine them until My salvation reaches to the ends of the earth.[a]Eternal One: At the sight of you, kings will rise and princes will bow down, for I, the Eternal, faithful and true, the Holy One of Israel, have chosen you(The Daughter of Zion, Israel, Jerusalem and Judah).
8 Eternal One: When the time was right, I answered you; on the day you were delivered, I was your help.[b]I will watch over you, and give you as a promise, a binding covenant to the people.Through you, My gift to the people, the land of promise(the kingdom of heaven) will recover. Ancestral ground, once deserted, will be entrusted to them.9 Through you, My gift to the people, I will declare to the prisoners,“Come out. Now you are free”;To those who are held in darkness, “Come out into the light.”10 Wherever they are, they will be fine, never hungry nor thirsty. They will be protected from oppressive heat and the burning sun Because the One who loves them—as a mother loves her child—will be their guide.
15 Eternal One: Is it possible for a mother, however disappointed, however hurt, to forget her nursing child? Can she feel nothing for the baby she carried and birthed? Even if she could, I, God, will never forget you.16 Look here. I have made you a part of Me, written you on the palms of My hands. Your city walls are always on My mind, always My concern.
17 Now sweet Zion your children are running pell-mell back to you Just as fast as those who destroyed you are leaving.18 Raise your head, lift up your eyes, and watch your heart’s desire come—All your children, gathered and returning to you. As I live, so I promise. You will wear them with pride all like shining ornaments; you will put them on as a bride on her wedding day.
21 I looked again and could hardly believe my eyes. Everything above me was new. Everything below me was new. Everything around me was new because the heaven and earth(violence in heaven and on earth) that had been passed away, and the sea(beast out of the sea – evil) was gone, completely. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem(Daughter of Jerusalem, Israel, Judah and Zion – the woman), descending out of heaven(Light) from God, prepared like a bride on her wedding day, adorned for her husband and for His eyes only.3 And I heard a great voice, coming from the throne. A Voice: See, the home of God is with His people. He will live among them; They will be His people, And God Himself will be with them.4 The prophecies are fulfilled: He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.[a]Death will be no more; Mourning no more, crying no more, pain no more, For the first things have gone away.
Heavenly Messenger: Come with me, and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.10 He took me away in the Spirit and set me on top of a great, high mountain. As I waited for what I thought was a bride, he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem(the woman – the Daughter of Jerusalem, Israel, Judah and Zion), descending out of heaven(light) from God. 11 It gleamed and shined with the glory of God(Shekinah-Heavenly Mother); its radiance was like the most precious of jewels, like jasper, and it was as clear as crystal.(It’s brilliance of various colors was brighter than that of glistening jewels).22 And in the city(woman), I found no temple(building) because the Lord God, the All Powerful, and the Lamb are the temple(ark-physical Light). 23 And in the city(the woman), there is no need for the sun to light the day or moon the night because the resplendent glory(light) of the Lord (Shekinah-Our Heavenly Mother)provides the city(woman her Daughter) with warm, beautiful light and the Lamb(the Son of God) illumines every corner of the new Jerusalem(new earth).(He will appear as the Light of the world from above – The Daughter of Jerusalem, Israel, Judah and Zion same person her light will shine from her body (the tabernacle of God).
Heaven means light – will be coming to earth through a woman. The same glory (light) that Jesus Christ walked with on the earth over 2000 years ago.
Psalm 132:13 – “The LORD has chosen Zion(Daughter of Zion), He has desired it(her) for HIS dwelling. This is My resting place forever and ever, here will I sit enthroned, for I have desired it(her)”.
1-4 But when all is said and done, GOD’s Temple(Daughter of Zion) on the mountain(she lives on a mountain),Firmly fixed, will dominate all mountains towering above surrounding hills.
People will stream to it and many nations set out for it, Saying, “Come, let’s climb GOD’s mountain. Let’s go to the Temple of Jacob’s God. He will teach us how to live. We’ll know how to live God’s way.” True teaching will issue from Zion (Daughter of Zion),GOD’s revelation from Jerusalem(the Daughter of Jerusalem).
6 Eternal One: In that day of hope, I will gather the lame, bring together all those who have been driven away and those whom I have injured.7 From those who were lame I will create a remnant, and from those who were cast off I will create a strong nation; And the Eternal will reign over them in Mount Zion(Daughter of Zion) now and forevermore.8 And to you, the tower of the flock, the hill of the daughter of Zion, your former authority (the kingdom of heaven on earth) will return to you, the royal authority of the daughter of Jerusalem. (See Lamentations Chapter 2 the kingdom belonged to the Daughter of Zion and she is from heaven) [a]How the Lord has covered Daughter Zion with the cloud of his anger[b]!He has hurled down the splendor(Light) of Israel from heaven to earth;he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.2 Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of Daughter Judah.
He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonor.)
3 He will arbitrate among the nations and dictate to strong nations far away. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nations shall no longer fight each other, for all war will end. There will be universal peace, and all the military academies and training camps will be closed down.
4 Everyone will live quietly in his own home in peace and prosperity, for there will be nothing to fear. The Lord himself has promised this. 5 (Therefore we will follow the Lord our God forever and ever, even though all the nations around us worship idols!)
6 In that coming day, the Lord says that he will bring back his punished people—sick and lame and dispossessed— 7 and make them strong again in their own land, a mighty nation, and the Lord himself shall be their King from Mount Zion(Jamaica) forever. 8 O Jerusalem(Daughter of Jerusalem)—the Watchtower(tower of the flock) of God’s people—your royal might and power will come back to you again, just as before.
5 And the One who sat on the throne announced to His creation,The One: See, I am making all things new. (turning to me) Write what you hear and see, for these words are faithful and true. 6 It is done! I am the Alpha(Father) and the Omega(Mother), the beginning and the end. I will see to it that the thirsty drink freely from the fountain of the water of life(their heavenly Mother). 7 To the victors will go this inheritance: I will be their God, and they will be My children. 8 It will not be so for the cowards, the faithless, the sacrilegious, the murderers, the sexually immoral, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all those who deal in deception. They will inherit an eternity in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.
Matthew 3:2 “Repent ! Turn to God and change the way you think and act, because the kingdom of heaven(light) is near.”

John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
If you know the truth, then that knowledge you obtain, that truth will set you free. But free from what?
The freedom we obtain from the truth is the freedom from ignorance, primarily the ignorance of spiritual things. Now we are all aware of the bondage we have of not knowing certain things. If a person has no education than his opportunities are limited. A person who is illiterate will face many closed doors and will have difficulty even finding the most menial of jobs. If this is true in our secular society, imagine the impact this has on a spiritual level. A person who is illiterate of spiritual truths will not be able to thrive spiritually. Religious leaders were ignorant of spiritual things but they lacked the truth, and so one of the symptoms they had was that they were ignorant of their spiritual condition. Look at John 8:33, “They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Now first of all they were ignorant of the facts. They had indeed been slaves, many times over; to the Egyptians, to the Babylonians, to many other times. But their spiritual ignorance was outrageous.
They thought that just by being a descendant of Abraham gave them a special path to Heaven.
Men and women of today would still rather walk in spiritual darkness. Most of the people of today are happy with the watered down, compromised gospel they hear. Many are happy with false doctrines and false religions that abound today. And many are just happy living with no form of religion at all. Most of these people are still staggering around indulging themselves in the sins of this world, not caring where they will spend eternity. Are you one of these that the Bible says would rather walk in confusion? Of course, if you desire to walk in darkness, that choice is yours.
The darkness of this world is Satan’s playground. Deception, False Religions, Adultery, Fornication, Drugs, Alcohol and Sex is the name of the game. Even so called churches don’t want the truth of God’s Word, so they have settled for entertainment. It is so easy to deceive people, just give them what they want. So called Christians have allowed teachers and preachers to give them poison in place of the true gospel. When will someone stand up and say, “I will not dwell in spiritual confusion any longer. I will not be afraid to stand up for God’s true light in a world of dark shameful behavior.”
Ecclesiastes 2:14 says, ”…the fool walketh in darkness…”
John 12:35 says, ”…walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.”
Isaiah 5:20 says, ”Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.”
Ephesians 6:12 says, ”For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
First John 1:5 says, ”This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
John 12:46 says, ”I (Jesus) am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”
Psalm 119:105 says, Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
2 Peter 1:19
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,
Those who embrace this light and truth are like those of whom the apostle Paul spoke when he said “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” (1 Thessalonians 5:5) These sons and daughters of light are eager to embrace the conviction found in Isaiah 8:20 where it says “To the law and to the testimony if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” That is to say that anyone who doesn’t teach in harmony with the “Law” of Moses as well as the “testimony” of the prophets which give witness to and affirm that Law, doesn’t have light or truth in them. They are children of darkness.
“Light” itself as an element has often been used as an analogy for truth, as opposed to darkness which has often represented error, the perfect opposite of truth. When we find truth we often speak of ourselves as enlightened.
Gen:1:3: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.(Shekinah Glory)
What is God’s Shekinah glory?
Origin of Light:
The creation of light was the initial step in the creation of life. “Let there be light”(Shekinah Glory- Heavenly Mother) (Gen 1:3) was the first word of God spoken after His creative Spirit(Heavenly Mother – The Holy Spirit) “moved” upon the primary material out of which He ( Heavenly Father)created the heavens and the earth and which lay, until the utterance of that word, in the chaos of darkness and desolation.
The word “Shekinah” is a Hebrew word referring to the effulgent Glory(Light) that shines for from the presence of the Most High God. The translations of the Bible do not use the word Shekinah, but call it a light a Radiant light.
Adam and Eve, the progenitors of the Adamic race, were enveloped with Shekinah Glory as they walked the earth in their beginning. From ancient books we learn that the children of Lucifer said, “We can not stand the light of them.” Thus Lucifer seduced Eve in order to bring their fall so that they would lose their Glory(physical Light).
Because Adam and Eve were clothed in God’s “Shekinah glory”, they were not aware that they were naked.
The “Shekinah glory” protected them from all harm and it was all they needed. (Genesis 2:25: And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed)
Man was pure and holy, made in the image of God. The Spirit of God is holy and will not rest on anything unholy. The Glory of God that surrounded man then, was called the “Shekinah glory”.
As God created man, the Spirit of God found a resting place and settled on man, Adam and Eve. In Genesis 1, the Spirit of God hovered over the deep of the Earth and did not settle anywhere or on any thing because as the dove couldn’t find a resting place after the flood of Noah, so the Spirit of God couldn’t find any resting place, after Adam. When man sinned, the Spirit of God or the “Shekinah glory” left them.
We read about the glory of God again in the Exodus of Israel where the Glory was in the cloud (symbolic of the Holy Spirit) that went out before them in the day and gave them light at night. It protected them but it did not settle on them.
We read that Moses went up the mountain Sinai and the glory of God (Shekinah)was on the mountain. The Shekinah glory showed on the face of Moses after 80 days in the Presence of God, He almost shone like Adam and Eve from old. The people were scared of Moses because rays of light shone from his face. They asked Moses to cover his face. (Exodus 34:29-30: When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the Testimony in his hand, he did not know that the skin of his face shone and sent forth beams by reason of his speaking with God. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they feared to come near him)
Then God gave Moses the order to build a Tabernacle (the shadow or type of Yeshua (Jesus) and also the Ark of the Covenant, with the mercy seat (also a shadow or type of Christ). The Glory of God (Holy Spirit or “Shekinah glory”) came and settled (rested) on the mercy seat among the people in a visible manner. That only happened after the mercy seat was made holy by the blood of a sacrificial animal.
After the Ark was lost to Israel, the “Shekinah Glory” of God was also lost for a time.
We read that the Spirit or “Shekinah glory” did not rest on anyone after that but only occasionally “came upon” the prophets and kings in the Old Testament to do the work of God, but never settled.
We read In the New Testament that when Yeshua (Jesus) was baptised with water, the Holy Spirit came (in the form of a dove) and settled(Shakan) on Him.
The “Shekinah Glory” of God in the New Testament is not visible to the human eye but is spiritual and soon one day will become physical. We only see the “Shekinah Glory” of God on Yeshua (Jesus) when He was transformed on the mountain before His death. As Yeshua died on the cross and took the sins of the world upon Him, the “Shekinah Glory” of God left Him.
After His resurrection, Yeshua (Jesus) gave His disciples the order to go to Jerusalem and to wait for the power (the outpouring) of the His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. We see that after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost that the Spirit of God came and settled on them with Tongues of fire (“Shekinah Glory”) and they spoke in different tongues.
So these people must have been holy and acceptable for the Spirit of God to come and settle upon them. They were sanctified (made holy) by the work (blood) of Yeshua on the cross. As Noah fled into the ark and was saved from destruction so we must flee into the ark of grace, God’s Glory, His “Shekinah Glory” and be saved.
Trust in God is the result of a choice. God’s way of life was not the only choice Adam and Eve faced. The serpent presented Eve with an alternative, convincing her that his approach was the better way. He persuaded her that God had withheld important information from her, that God was misleading her (Genesis 3:1-6). Eve then persuaded Adam to join her in rebelling against God’s instruction by partaking of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:15-17).
As a result, another “ruler” (John 12:31), the one who exercises influence over “all the kingdoms of the world” (Matthew 4:7-9), could introduce humanity to a different way of life. This ruler is “that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). But by listening to him they lost everything.
Over time he has even introduced a counterfeit religious message, a “different gospel” (Galatians 1:6-8) that is opposed to God’s plan and His purpose for us.
We must understand the significance of Satan introducing to humanity a different way of life, a way opposed to God. Satan’s message is cloaked in acceptable, sounding language that seems right to our natural way of thinking (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).
He has even convinced most people that God’s ways are foolish (1 Corinthians 2:14). In so doing, Satan has become not only the ruler but the “god” of this age (2 Corinthians 4:4). Paul refers to him as “the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2).
The “Shekinah glory” of God left mankind because of sin. The protection of God was now gone and man began to die. Man was ashamed of his sin and hid himself from the holiness of God. God called Adam not because He wanted to know where Adam was, He knew where they were, but because God wanted to know where their relationship was. He knew that He said that they should surely “die” – “die” (spirit and flesh) if they eat from the tree of knowledge.
God is perfect in all His ways and because He had said that they will surely die, He had to perform His word and they should have died there and then. But yet God did not let them die immediately. Have you ever wondered why?
Let me explain: God had a redemption plan for mankind; He had a plan for the salvation of mankind.
God showed mercy towards man by killing an animal in his place to cover his sin. Sin brought death onto the earth. (Genesis 3:21: Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them)
The skins and blood of the animal covered their sins. God showed mankind the way to salvation by using the blood of the lamb as a type of the blood of the Messiah (saviour).
The Messiah would be the “Seed of a Woman”( The woman in Revelation 12 – The Holy Spirit- The Shekinah).
Remember, on the first day of creation, God separated light from darkness. This was not the light of daytime as we know it, but the light of the revelation of God to his creation, which was about to be created. It was the light, or knowledge, or revelation, that there was a god. This was the first creation, and the one which John says is the first one men would be held responsible for, and judged for what they did with this knowledge. This was covered in the first three chapters of Revelation.
This light is symbolized throughout the Bible, sometimes as the Shekinah cloud, sometimes as glory, or glory of the Lord, often in the New Testament as the church, and in Revelation as the light of the New Jerusalem.
The ultimate focusing of light (on the 4th day of creation, Gen 1:14) in suns, stars, and solar systems brought the initial creative process to completion, as the essential condition of all organic life. The origin of light thus finds its explanation in the purpose and very nature of God whom John defines as not only the Author of light but, in an all-inclusive sense, as light itself: “God is light” (1 Jn 1:5).
A Comprehensive Term:
The word “light” is Divinely rich in its comprehensiveness and meaning. Its material splendor is used throughout the Scriptures as the symbol and synonym of all that is luminous and radiant in the mental, moral and spiritual life of men and angels; while the eternal God, because of His holiness and moral perfection, is pictured as “dwelling in light unapproachable” (1 Tim 6:16). Every phase of the word, from the original light in the natural world to the spiritual glory of the celestial, is found in Holy Writ.
(1) Natural Light.
The light of day (Gen 1:5); of sun, moon and stars; “lights in the firmament” (Gen 1:14-18; Ps 74:16; 136:7; 148:3; Eccl 12:2; Rev 22:5). Its characteristics are beauty, radiance, utility. It “rejoiceth the heart” (Prov 15:30); “Truly the light is sweet” (Eccl 11:7); without it men stumble and are helpless (Jn 11:9,10); it is something for which they wait with inexpressible longing (Job 30:26; compare Ps 130:6). Life, joy, activity and all blessings are dependent upon light.
“And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the Lord (Jehovah): for he hath heard your murmurings. And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.”
This shows that the brightness of the cloud was associated with the glory, or presence of the Lord, and that this was the place where he dwelt among them.
In Exodus 19:16-18, when God called Moses up on mount Sinai, it says,
“And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.”
Again, this shows that the cloud of fire, or light, was the dwelling, or shekinah, of the Lord. Exodus 24:16 states quite clearly that this was the glory of God:
“And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.”
This cloud guided the people until later in their wanderings when the Lord told Moses to build him a tabernacle (Exodus 25:8). Exodus 29:43-46 says,
“And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory. And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office. And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God. And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God.”
The dominant idea of the shekinah as a dwelling for the Lord is actually more an indwelling. This is shown by several scriptures in the New Testament. Matthew 16:27 says,
“For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.”
We have already established that the glory of the Lord and the shekinah cloud are synonymous terms.
In Acts l:9, Jesus ascended to the Father,
“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.”
Acts 1:11 says,
“Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Jesus was taken up in the Shekinah glory, or cloud, and he will return in the glory of the Father, or in the Shekinah cloud, in which he left.
The Shekinah cloud, or glory of the Lord, or bright light, not only declared the presence of God, but also his approval. Matthew 17:1-5 says,
“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, and was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”
Here, the cloud represented not only the presence of God, but also his approval of the person upon whom it was bestowed.
John 1:14 also referred to the transfiguration:
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory(light), the glory(light) as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
In Luke 2:9, what the angel told the shepherds shows the approval of God by the presence of the shekinah glory cloud.
“And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord (Shekinah)shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.”
When Stephen was stoned, he was allowed to see this great light, or glory, in heaven. Acts 7:55 says,
“But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God(Shekinah), and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.”
These scriptures concerning the return of Jesus reveal that it will be associated with the light, glory of the Lord, or shekinah cloud, however it may be referred to.
There are also a number of scriptures in Revelation which refer to the phenomenon of the cloud, glory, or light of the Lord.
Revelation 21:23-24 says,
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God(Shekinah) did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.”
Revelation 22:5 continues,
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
The Spirit Hovering Over The Waters
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God(Holy Spirit – Heavenly Mother) was hovering over the waters.
This phrase in the opening lines of the Bible is really fascinating when you think about it. It gives us the first glimpse that God is a multifaceted being; if God’s spirit is hovering, then there must be another part of him doing something else. We quickly discover that another part of God is speaking- ‘and God said.’ So Genesis 1 one can give us some clues as to the nature of the different parts of God.
The Spirit’s hovering was the first thing ever done, the first action ever performed. When everything else is formless and empty, it is an action that stands out. It must be significant, aren’t firsts always significant? The detail cannot have been placed without good reason, the first thing EVER, according to the bible was the spirit hovering over the waters, even before God spoke there was this action.
The Hebrew word that is translated as hovered, or moved is the word Rahap, rahap is used in one other place in the Torah (Pentateuch) and that is in Deuteronomy when it describes the way God cares for his people that he’s brought out of the chaos of the world.
‘For Elohim’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance. In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young’ (Deuteronomy 32:9-11)
Translated as hover in the NIV, rahap describes the way a mother eagle cares for, and hovers over its young. Taking this reference back to Genesis 1, one finds a number of interesting things beginning to happen. There is a correlation between the ‘barren and howling waste’ of the desert land and the ‘formless and empty’ earth in the beginning. It also brings a feminine picture of mothering that compliments the male authority and patriarchal quality of the speech of God.
The Hebrew word for moved means brooded or hovered, as when a mother bird broods over her eggs to bring forth life. This indicates that after God’s judgment God did something to bring forth life. The situation was really waste and void, and there was darkness upon the depth of the water. Then the Spirit of God(Holy Spirit – Heavenly Mother) came in to brood, to hover, over the situation in order to produce life.
Following this, from Genesis 1:3 to the end of chapter two, there is a long record of how life was brought forth through the brooding of the Spirit. These two chapters are full of striking significances. Every detail of these two chapters has some significance. You should not merely read the letters in black and white; rather, you must know the significance of what you read. In Genesis 1:2 we read about the Spirit. What is the significance of the Spirit here? In the Bible the Spirit always signifies life. What is the significance of the waste, void, darkness, and deep water? All these signify a disaster, and even death. These are all negative things. Then all of a sudden something good came, that is, the Spirit. The Spirit came not to rebuke, not to condemn, but to brood, as a mother bird broods over the eggs.
In the book of Ezekiel, Ezekiel is met by God who arrives in glory, sitting on a thrown in the centre of a storm held up by four bizarre and terrible creatures. God comes to speak to Ezekiel, and one of the amazing things about the passage is that like Genesis 1, it is a moment when different parts of God are named and seen to be enacting different roles for the same purpose. So there is God on the throne, the text (Ezekiel 2:2) says that the spirit entered Ezekiel and raised him to his feet. In the passage Ezekiel is given a duty, which is to deliver God’s message to Israel, but he is also empowered to do so by the spirit that raises him. This passage shows God speaking and the spirit doing an action, earlier on in the meeting the throne, storm, and creatures are coming toward Ezekiel, their course guided by the Spirit, ‘wherever the Spirit would go they would go.’ So just like in Genesis 1 movement and action define the Spirit.
God and the Spirit work together in unity. The Spirit acting as a helpmate. Where do we find the first account of God working together with the Spirit in the beginning?
Proverbs Chapter 8
22“The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,c d before his deeds of old;23I was formed long ages ago,at the very beginning, when the world came to be.24When there were no watery depths, I was given birth, when there were no springs overflowing with water;25before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,26before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth.27I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,28when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, 29when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.30Then I was constantlye at his side.I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, 31rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
The above verse indicates that it is Wisdom speaking. Verse 1 in Chapter 8 confirms this and Wisdom is personified as female “her”.
1Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
Wisdom is The Holy Spirit – The Spirit of Wisdom.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him– the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD—
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses.
Matthew 11:19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say,’Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children. ”
The word wisdom occurs over 320 times in the bible not referring to human wisdom but the wisdom of God – Heavenly Father’s wife our Heavenly Mother.
How many times is the word Holy Spirit mentioned in the OT in the bible? In the NIV it occurs three times:
Psalm 51:11 “Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.”
Isaiah 63:10 “Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit.”
Isaiah 63:11 “Where is he who set his Holy Spirit among them,”
However, given that the shekinah glory in the Most Holy part of the tabernacle / temple was the Spirit of God, there are many more references to the Holy Spirit. Likewise in Genesis chapter 1, the creation account, the Holy Spirit was inseparable from the decree of God. So if God is Holy (and he most certainly is!) so is his Spirit.
Most often in the Hebrew text it is “Spirit of YHWH” (the “covenant name” of God, sometimes mistakenly rendered “Jehovah”) or “Spirit of God” (Elohim). In Psalms and Isaiah and there are other places where it says ‘His Spirit’ meaning the spirit of God. The bible also calls the Holy Spirit ( Spirit of the Lord).
Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is mentioned 93 times in the New International Version… 3 times in the OT and 90 in the NT.
The Hebrew word for “spirit,” “ruach,” occurs together with YHWH or Elohim in 142 verses. Most of those instances would refer to God’s Spirit.
The word Spirit is feminine.
